Warm Weather Provides Perfect Playtime for Greater One-Horned Rhino Calf at San Diego Zoo Safari Park

Chutti, a 15-month-old greater one-horned rhino calf at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, enjoyed one of his favorite playtime activities—frolicking in a spray of water.

The young rhino, which was hand-raised from two weeks of age in the Safari Park’s Ione and Paul Harter Animal Care Center and currently resides in a field boma, is being weaned from his bottle feedings, with plans to introduce him to other rhinos at the Safari Park in the very near future. Keepers report the playful rhino calf has always enjoyed water, regardless of the outdoor temperature—and with today’s unseasonably warm weather in San Diego, playtime served to cool down the little rhino, all while having fun.
